Hello ,

first i want to tell you i look at the 75 pages of the 1969-70 section trying to find this information ( i found a lot of interesting things indeed ! )

But not really about which marks i should put on my 9 inch rear axle ?

The car is an August 1968 sportroof produced in metuchen with 4 speed , and a 9 inch 3.25 traction lock .

indeed i remember one day to find in the forum an explanation from J_SPEEGLE with a drawing of a rear axle and position of marking ... but do not manage to find it again ...

Often you will not find on the site allot of specific paint marks offered (though I will comment on others post) since we have found over the years since the internet was started if we post an example of marks them 50 owners will rush out and place the EXACT markings on their cars - often with no reguard to any of the related details. Since we are just as interested here helping and spreading correct and well researched information we also try and limit (what we can do) the bad or misused information.

The ones you document and find on your cars rearend since marks can be similar it would be odd for all of them to be exactly like another car considering the dozen or so people (or more) that built, assembled, inspected and touched that rearend from where it was built - then shipped to the plant and the handling and installation at the plant.

Hello thanks for you answer , i understand , and can imagine what you describe about 50 owners putting same marksafter  publication on the forum.

in fact what i'm looking for is not exatly quality inspectors marks or so , but more color code for parts ID like we have on transmission shaft, standard marking . If there is so on the rear axle  of course.
