67 defroster duct(with a/c) mounting nuts

Were the 4 nuts used to secure the defroster duct to the mounting studs the thin, sheet metal type?

No they are the same nut that holds the hood mounted turn bezels. I am too lazy to look up the number but I bet Jim will.

The book says the defroster nuts (both w and w/o A/C) are 34655-S7, a regular hex nut with an attached external tooth lock washer, vs. 353911-S100 (clear zinc ?) with a sealer for the hood mounted turn signals (the nut is used with the standard louvers and with turn signals). The good news is they are both 10-24 threads.

Upon further review, I listed 14 each 353911-S100 nuts used on the hood vent ornaments. Ten of the nuts are used for the outer ornament, and four of the nuts are used for the insert, which is replaced with the hood mounted turn signal housings, and the four nuts reused. It is fixed in the master file and will show up in the next revision.

Thanks for the research Jim that is good to know. I have parted and restored several dozen 67-68 Mustangs and the 35911-S100 is what I have most commonly found used for the defrost ducts. When I restored my first car I was too poor to buy the AMK kits so I would go to the salvage yard and get the defrost nuts for my hood because they were protected under the dash and still had nice plating. It may have been that the 34655.S7 were smaller diameter and more prone to breaking the plastic duct ears or just a case of the assembly line using what was handy. BTW I commonly find the 34655-S7 used for the speaker, it has a steel frame.
