Heater control panel foam?
« on: February 24, 2016, 01:47:53 PM »
I am cleaning up the camera case heater control panel on a July 67 Metuchen coupe.  On the back side of the panel, along the two long edges were two strips of what looks like ribbed cellophane tape.  I assume there must have been some kind of foam attached to this tape - true?

If so, I have two questions:
1. What is the purpose of this foam or cellophane ribbed tape?
2. Anyone have any pictures of this foam so I can find a suitable alternative?

Thanks in advance.
Mark

It was a anti rattle solution. Open cell weather striping you will find at the hardware store would work just fine. I'll try to find some to take a picture of.

Here is a picture of a original LH and RH trim panels the LH still as what is left of the foam tape and a sample of what I would replace it with.
The RH side used the same weather strip seal used on the roof rail weather strip retainers. Hope this helps.
