Topic: Repro 65/66 Rear Spring Lower Small Leaf ?

I inspected a car the other day that had such a crisp number stamping on the small spring leaf that I am really believing it to be a repro. Has anyone else heard of this? I have seen a lot of stampings and they are not usually that easy to read but this one appeared to be freshly stamped as the indentations were still shiny.

Did you get a picture?

I often run across service replacements that are neatly "stamped" into a short leaf that is not shaped like originals. Numbers often suggest that they were made in the mid to late 80's

I did not take a picture but I did write down all of the stampings:

C4ZA 5556 S
296E4

The S was much more heavily stamped and not straight into the metal like the rest of the stamps. It was as if the "S" stamp was leaning to the right hand side when struck. Both springs were identical.

Hmm haven't seen a "-S" that was slanted

Thank you for your observations, Jeff. I had not seen this anomaly before either and both sides were identical.
