This is from a '69, but is an original that has just been cleaned.  Might help you get an idea of the "look".

The sad thing it's hard to find someone around this area to restore to the original state.

Yes you would have to ship it and if you do that might as well have it disassembled and rebuilt during the process.

Guess its one of those - get your hands dirty tasks that often comes with owning these cars. 

You can do it - just takes time
