Topic: Weatherstripping ~Preparing or Cleaning NOS items

I have recently purchased a new NOS Ford trunk weatherstrip that has a chalky white look to it.
Without using chemicals that might otherwise dry it out or damage it, what might be a good way to clean this rather porous rubber?

I gave a quick test on the end using thinner,  it cleans the top surface but not down into the pores.

Similar question might petain to the lower door weatherstriping.

Try mineral spirits or something like goo-gone.

i use rubbing alcohol when i used 3M glue. it was specified on the box/tube.

Since glue was mentioned this is what I use.  The color match to original stuff has been spot on for me.

Just be careful of exposing the adhesive to the air and its effect on the color of the product and the rusting of the brush that comes attached to the inside of the cap.
