DSO 71 1966
« on: November 30, 2015, 02:33:51 AM »
Hi all,

I'm new to this site so let me introduce myself.
I recently found (in Spain mainland) and bought a restored San Jose 1966 Coupe 200 SIX, Arcadian blue, C4 auto, standard interior trim and some 84K miles. I'm trying to get her as much as original as I am able to do, and have some questions.
I'm interested in the build sheet/broadcast sheet sticker for my car, so I was guessing to know the place where the car could be sold somewhere in Los Angeles, DSO 71 back in 1966.

Her info is as follows;
VIN 6R07T213966
Door data tag 65A  F  22  11F  71  3  6

Any address can be found..?
Many thanks!

Josep

First, Welcome to the site!

Hi all,

... I'm trying to get her as much as original as I am able to do, and have some questions.

You are certainly in the right place to get as many answers as available to your questions.

I'm interested in the build sheet/broadcast sheet sticker for my car, so I was guessing to know the place where the car could be sold somewhere in Los Angeles, DSO 71 back in 1966.

As best that I know of, some of this information is not able to be located for 1966 and older. Hopefully others can offer other ideas where you can search for this answer than I can come up with. You mentioned it has been restored, that could reduce your chances. Build Sheets have at times been found under seats, under carpeting or wrapped & taped to the main wiring harness under the dash. The Build sheet could help narrow down build date and build data if it were located and legible.

Selling Dealership information on a 1966 and older is another thing all together. I'm not aware of any source of information in assisting you to find out, without you already having the original sales information or at least information from off of a temporary warranty card,

1967 thru 1979 Ford vehicles have much more information available to assist them, unfortunately at this time, records for 1966 and older are nowhere to be found.

It sounds like you have a very nice looking 66 coupe! Congratulations, I imagine in Spain, you will likely rarely see too many old Mustangs cruising around. Have fun with your car, and hope to hear more as you progress in bringing her back to as close to original as possible!

Thanks very much for you complete information and kindness.
Yes, I know some people has found the build sheet somewhere in the car, and I also know that would be a complete miracle if I could find it in my car, honestly, I don't believe I can find it.! 67 and up guys are luckier.!
I had the no, so I have to try the yes.!
I'm right on Ibiza Island, and trust me, there are few classic cars, some Mustangs, Cadillacs, etc..!
I bought iher in the mainland and brought here. She was already restored, in NY I believe, from were  she came to Spain back in 2009.
Once again, many thanks and I will be around here.!

Josep,
Welcome to the forum. I've read some of your posts on another forum and you have a unique car in a unique location. Your quest for a build sheet is going to be disappointing. Build sheets are rare on San Jose built cars. Without the original owner's paperwork, a window sticker, an owner's manual or a scrap of paper with some dealer info you would not find much about where the car was sold. DSO 71 covers all of Southern California, an area of about 80,000 square miles (210,000 square kilometers, I think). The State of California does not keep automobile records for older cars after the registration has run out. They would most likely not be helpful. The door data plate is about the best info you have available.
As other's have stated, this forum is probably the best source of information on restoration and what you need to keep your Mustang running. Have fun doing it.

Many thanks jwc66k for your kindness and helpful info.!
Yes, I know this is closer to impossible rather than other thing, but I had to answer.
San Jose cars were tough for these matters.!
Thank you very much anyway for your post and I will continue looking for the most accurate originality for my lil pony.!

Hi Josep,

Saw you bought the car in Spain. I take you're from Spain then? Happen to be in PaĆs Vasco? We have a house there (on the French side of the border though). Just had to say hello, not many members on this side of the pond.

So, you got a house in France.? Cool.! Hope you enjoy it.!
Best regards and thanks for email.!
