Number from the air horn and tag  is C8ZX-9510-A

Not the clearest but sure there are allot of other examples out there of that style

That style with the rubber boot is typical of the one used on the Holley through middle 68 from what I have seen.Later 68 and most 69's I have seen use the other style with out the rubber boot.

Thanks Jeff, I thought it might be a '68. I just updated a different thread with what I've found on this style of dashpots for '68 390s: it's nice to have the additional confirmation from you and Bob. I'm planning to do a follow-up on that post with bracket and locknut information. That's the best photo I've seen so far of the PAL nut.

At the risk of veering a bit off topic, here's a couple pictures that show the fuel filter and dashpot from a rebuild project for an early built '68 390 with a 9510-D and a List of 3796-1.
Question: I've read the stamped pal nut for the dashpot was a Holley service part, the solid thin lock nut would be factory correct....is this right?

I've got more info and photos on the dashpot in this thread: http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=11801.msg74992#msg74992

The dashpot on the rebuilt carb is the right style, but the stud looks longer than the ones I've seen and an NOS one that I have. There's a photo of a C8OZ-A on the thread listed above; the pic is from an auction but I now have that dashpot and plan to take additional photos and measurements which I intend to post in that thread. I was also planning to add photos and discussion of the bracket and locknut.

I don't have solid proof on the locknut yet, but the photos I've seen so far that look untouched or NOS are showing the stamped PAL nut. I've attached another shot of the NOS C8ZX carb Jeff posted in the discussion that this spun off from (ignore the arrow for this discussion). I've also included a photo of another NOS C8ZX carb from thecoralsnake.com that has the PAL nut.
