Topic: Engine 65 200 6 cylinder - What is black?

I just want to confirm what I think I already know.  Was the entire engine assembled before the black paint was applied?  The oil pan bolts are painted, threaded drain bolt is painted (on the right side of the block).  Finally, would the oil pressure sending unit be installed before or after engine paint?  I didn't see where the MCA rules addressed these specifically. The engine (in this case short the valve cover) was assembled with oil pan in place so yes the mounting bolts and washers would be painted along with the block and other items

Don't believe the oil sender was attached to the engine at the time it was painted

Thanks for that Jeff.  Doing some detailing today and that is what I assumed, just wanted to be sure.
