Suspicious C8OF-D carburetor
« on: December 27, 2015, 06:17:22 PM »
This carb is currently posted on ebay. The date code doesn't make sense - February of 1967? For a C8OF? Even more strange - the month should be a number, not a letter.

Is this a fake, an error, or just something unusual that I haven't heard of before?

It's a Holley carburetor. It may be explained in Jeff's date code posting.

I thought ford application Holley  carb dates were 3 numbers. It may read 764- 1967 June 4th week.

Something odd going on here - good catch with the letter as Holley's date pattern didn't include a letter

Do have pictures of carbs identified as reproductions having a letter in the three digit date code

I thought ford application Holley  carb dates were 3 numbers. ............

Depends when it was made

Looks like the only thing odd going on here is inside my head!    ??? ::)

As John pointed out, the month is 0-9 Jan through Oct, then A for Nov and B for Dec. I have a couple of January '68 carbs, but apparently I've never encountered a Nov or Dec carb before, and I didn't stop and think about how you represent twelve months with only ten digits.
