64-1/2 Radio Suppressor Help Needed
« on: September 10, 2015, 12:48:27 AM »
I can find plenty of information for 65s with alternators but what about 64-1/2 with a generator? I see on an MCA judging sheet that a 64-1/2, with a radio, should have one radio noise suppressor at the voltage regulator. Looking in the Ford 64 shop manual, and any wiring diagrams and schematics I can find, I see no specific mention of the suppressor for this model. Can anybody provide any information regarding part number, description, installation? Any pic would be a plus.

It attaches to the bottom screw on the voltage regulator and then has a terminal spade end like the other voltage regulator wires for a generator car.  I also believe there is a suppressor on the back of the generator, but my memory is a bit foggy on that detail.

This is the best picture that I have right now here on my computer. It's very similar to the ones on the alternator car like here, but you can see that the bracket is squared off and the terminal end is different as Charles noted.

I have one off the car too and get a picture of that if needed.

My 64.5 had one mounted on the generator. I will try to find the picture I took and post it.

Were these suppressors fairly universal and used on other brands? If so, what specifics would I look for other than the spade connectors?

I'd look at Falcon, Fairlane and Comet vehicles.
