68 C code coil location
« on: September 04, 2015, 07:30:07 PM »
April build GTCS.  Have seen some horizontal on the LH top of the intake facing forward, some on the same side mounted to the face of the block facing up, and some on the RH side (which I think was more common on 67 289s, and have not seen on the few 68 C code pics I have been able to find).

Have a reply elsewhere that there was no common placement, which seems odd but maybe so....

Richard, I believe coil placement depended on w/ A/C, W/O, W/ Power steering, W/O or both.  My old J code May built SJ car had both PS, AC, and the coil was mounted to the front of the right head.  Hope this helps.  Mike

Plain Jane C code, no AC, PS, manual drum brakes... most exotic option was the vinyl roof or AM, take your pick! :P

Mine was LH top of the intake, pointing forward...

Thanks for the reply.

+1 for the passenger side of the intake on small blocks that year

IMHO by 68 it was just easier for Ford to install these all in the same place rather than having different locations for different options/accessories. Especially considering that emissions (one of the reasons for relocating earlier examples) systems were now all standard across all 50 states

Have lots of original (pictures) examples ;)
