68 S code lift hook fasteners
« on: August 26, 2015, 11:19:12 PM »
So far these are the only photos I've been able to find of 390 lift hooks in place. [from https://www.428cobrajet.org/id-hooks] The bottom hole on each is secured with the manifold bolt. The top hole bolts directly to the cylinder head. What bolt is used? It does not appear to be the special low head as used in '67, and it does not appear to be a ramp-lok like the manifold bolts. It looks like a standard head or a place bolt.

Can anyone confirm which type of bolt, what length, and if a washer was used?

I found this photo of a CJ left side hook on ebay. Did the 390GT hooks use this same type of bolt for the top holes?

Based on measurements from the photo, I have determined that it is a 3/8-16 x 3/4 standard hex head. Probably a grade 5. I would tentatively estimate it is a 304350-S.
