Shift Lever
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:14:47 PM »
Another chrome part this is for a 67 with auto console.  The lever just has light surface rust so it seems like a good re-chrome candidate.  Once again more moving parts.  I didn't pull the T handle but somehow this looks like it could be a problem part for re-chroming.  The reproductions are only available as a complete set.  May not be a bad idea considering the whole thing needs to be cleaned or plated but how good are these repros?

You can get the shifter and T handle rechromed for a reasonable amount and will look far better than a reproduction. Place I used took the wire mechanism out and put it back for me so you won't have to do that.

If you don't mind how much did it cost to get them re-chromed?  I took mine all apart today.  It actually is pretty easy to get apart.  The trick is remembering how it all goes back together.

It cost me $90 to replate the shaft.

I didn't rechrome my T handle because I wanted something original and untouched and thought that was a good piece to leave alone.
