1965 intake casting paint marks??
« on: July 06, 2015, 11:04:52 AM »
I wanted to post these markings I found under the paint on a 1965 4v intake. Are these some type of QC paint markings? They look to be a 2 white paint marks and a light green paint daub above the date stamp? Curious for some input on what these represent?

Could be any number of things including:

-Identification
-Assembly/QA/Torque
-Worker-unique marks, took a break and marked an engine so they knew which one they stopped at.

IMHO likely marks applied once the intake was installed on the engine at the plant.

No idea what they meant (never met a worker who had an explanation) only the possibility that something had been done, checked  or as Charles mentioned might have identified the 4V intake manifold itself

Just as a related note - I've seen these daubs of color on original heads and block (the other large case engine parts)  also.
