Question relates to a Ford 4300 carb but may be the same for all. Pic below shows original tag that is bent at a right angle where it attaches with carb screw. I purchased a replacement tag and they come flat without any bends.
My question is did the tags come mounted to the carb flat or were they bent when installed?
Depends on how the tag was attached. In its normal/typical orientation it IMHO would be bent over. This also gives you the best chance for the judges (if showing the car) possibily see the tag in that sort of situation
Below are two examples of NOS 4300's as they came out of the box (Both boxed in 68-69 time period). Not sure if I touched the tag - they are pretty delicate.The same style of tag is installed on each just installed differently by workers. Bottom one IME is more typical of the majority I've seen.
