Good morning guys, I am trying to find out what the correct finish is for the nuts holding the backup lights to the valance. I have several original lights but I can't tell if they were plated or phosphate and oil. Also 2 of the nuts had small red rubber washers inside the nuts. Was this a normal practice? I am going to use repro backup lights for now but the nuts are smaller than original. Thanks for all answers.TOB
The repro nuts have the same size threads but everything else is different. Please excuse the blurred pic, but you can see the repro on left vs original in the center and the red rubber washers on rt. the repro has a serrated washer where the original is smooth. I'll try to get a better pic later. Also I didn't find which finish 36 is.
Zinc dichromate is the correct finish on these...all the originals I have seen here have that finish. Im not aware of an accurate source except using the originals and replating them.
