ID Help Needed: Are These Original Louvers?
« on: April 05, 2015, 01:21:49 PM »
Good morning - I wanted to ask the collective knowledge here about the rear window louvers I picked up recently. They came in a package with an original 1970 spoiler (D0ZB) and some NOS parts. I already have a set for my car, and listed these for sale but I want to authenticate them as I know there are good reproductions out there. These have some age on them but are in good condition. No numbers on the slats that I can find. What do I have?

Thanks everyone and Happy Easter!

On the support down the center (bottom side) of the louvers - any markings or stampings?

Trying not to lead the witness :)

Originals have 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 stamped on the bottom/back side to identify each slat  Top one was skipped

This is awesome info, been wondering this same question myself.  Not to hijack the thread but is their similar markings on the spoiler?  Or how can you tell you have an original one?

Spoiler? Guess your asking about the front plastic spoiler. No the rear wing ;)

There are a number of versions depending on which car its from (or designed for)

Since it was made by a sub contractor and not Ford there are no markings to identify them. Its features and lack of markings in some cases. Sort of - you'll know when you see one that isn't original

All right Jeff you will just have to show me a repro "rear deck spoiler" at Saac40!  Mine would be a 70 Mach 1 out of Metuchen in January if that is what you mean by which car it's designed for?

No was referring to the front spoiler - since it is specific for year and model (Boss 302, Boss 429, 70 Shelby...)

As for rear deck spoiler or wing to some there is a thread on the site that discusses some of the differences. Start with the pedestals and how the pedestals are attached to the spoiler itself
