Windshield Washer Hose "F" Shapped Tee Question
« on: October 18, 2024, 11:42:47 AM »
Admin Note: The following thread was separated from an earlier thread titled "screw/bolt for F tee windshield washer hoses - 67 Metuchen" when it took a turn in a new direction

The aftermarket likes to create a straight slot in the head of these 'recessed head' screws.

Thanks Bill.  What about the color of the plastic Tee? Is white AKA the clear or is there really a clear plastic Tee?

67/68 tee is the same . They are like the pictures posted. The clear description can be misleading because they are not see through. The originals had a slight yellow tint when new but got more so with age. The originals were not the very white or bright white I have seen some repros. The new white aftermarket tees don't typically yellow with age from what I have seen. Probably better plastic.

I was told by the judge that in fact the Tee was a clear plastic originally and then yellowed over time.  Yellowed parts would be ok in concours but not the white.

Never heard that one nor have seen any evidence of any "clear" plastic being used for that purpose. Clear tends to be more brittle than an opaque plastic in the day

Material is a nylon same or similar to license plate inserts.  It had a somewhat translucent look to it, white to off-white, but not totally opaque white like some recent reproduction pieces I have seen.  The brake warning switch that screws into the distribution block is also made of same or similar looking material.

Got this one from Dennis Carpenter. Compared to the lower white one,  very different.  What do you all think?

What stood out first to me was the attaching hole for the screw. Wonder if like in the past they used a service part for the details

Yes I noticed that too in addition to the yellow color.  It does look a bit on the clearer side compared to the white one. Maybe someone had a picture from an unrestored car to help id.

I would use the Dennis Carpenter one if I couldn't find a presentable genuine one. It looks so much better IMO.
