So couple of questions on this thread.  One, when the K Codes were shipped from Ford to Shelby, I assume they all had hoods on them or did they not?  If they did, did Shelby return the hoods to Ford since he installed the fiberglass ones?  And was the hardware like the hood pin and catch just swapped out?  Looking to see what bolts held the catch in place...

The hoods were deleted . Not a problem in southern CA.

IMHO looks like the source of the hood latch safety loop bolts were from the same source at Shelby as the two new ones added when the Monte Carlo bar was added.

Star washer with the wide/flat base headed bolt

Rest of the finishes like Mustangs of the time period

Original car closest to the time period you requested - within 40 digits of yours ;)

Did you get a chance to check that detail on the car?

Not yet.  My dad has not had an oppurtunity to bring the car home from the storage garage with all the rain in Dallas/Ft Worth.  And now with Bill hovering over today and this week, he might not be able to get home until this weekend or next.  When he does he is going to call me and I will have him look in that area.  Where exactly should he look at?

PS Also found out the Shelby built right before his is on its way to Australia  :(

Based off that picture, what become of the wheels, valve covers etc, other take off items?  Did Shelby send those back to Ford, thrown away?  They didn't have a take off parts website back then  ;)

Believe the picture is of 65 production so initial some things were tossed (likely picked out of the dumpster at night or end of the shift by some employees) then later things like intake with carb as well as exhaust manifolds were sold then resold to the public through ads like the one below.

Add/delete sheets were designed so that the cars met certain requirements while keeping "extra" parts to a minimum

Most of the take off items like intake carbs valve covers etc. were eliminated when in later 1965 GT350 production Shelby got Ford to install those items on the Ford line so SA didn't have to take them off or have the waste. That has to do with the add and delete sheets Jeff mentioned.

Thought I was done but also need the type of bolts where the grill and latch are actually at.  Putting in an order with AMK soon.  Also what type of bolt held the battery clamp down?  Same bolt with the retainer clip or different?

I was looking at the picture again at the top, what is sitting on the fold down section in the cars?  Looks like a piece of cardboard, maybe?  Jeff, do you have a pic of the hood latch area to show the type of bolts used?  Looks like there are no latches in that pic above...

Looks like nothing - just the floor section of the unibody - fold down removed . Shadows may be playing visual games with the eye

Same as all the Mustangs

From observation it appears that the latch & grill support was normally attached to the radiator support using the bolts with the star washers - heads possibly with the anchor markings

The latch to the support bracket varied during this time period - star washer at the beginning transitioning to flat washers at the later half. Do have examples where the latch to support is stars while latch support to grill support are flat/smooth washer. Radiator support to latch support still star

Useage likely overlapped
