Topic: Seat Belt Identification

I'm trying to identify the application of some seat belts.  Pictures are available at the link below.  I have them in my possession, so I can provide additional pictures if needed.

Based on the length, I don't think these are Mustang seat belts but I'm considering having them restored for the rear seat of a 66 fastback of course with the correct length strap.  Thoughts?

I'm no experts when it comes to seatbelts but I did notice that the anchor plates are not what I'm used to seeing on early Mustangs. Made early in '66, they appear to be for a full size Ford, but again, no expert.

I've attached a photo of what the rear seatbelt anchor looks like for a '66 Mustang; note the sharp bend in the anchor. I also included a photo of the anchor typically used for the front seatbelts; they're flat, no bends.

Hope this is of help and since no one else has replied, you may want to move or re-post your question under the 1964-1/2 - 1966 category, you may get more and better responses.

Thanks Ray.  I think you may be correct regarding these belts being for a full size ford.  I wasn't sure about the rear anchors and the picture clears this up for me with respect to the 66 rear belts. 

Anybody happen to know what the rear seat belt mounting would have looked like if the optional rear seat belts were installed in an early Dearborn built 65 Fastback?  Did the factory install the optional rear seat belts or was this a dealer installed option only?

The belts tend to remind me of what is on my 67 Fairlane but I don't have the car handy at the moment to check.

Yes, Those belts are slightly weird.  They are dated '67 belts (judging by the existing Ford tags on them) with normal '67 anchors, but have '66 dated Fomoco Buckles.  They are not too out of the norm though - Robbins (Their manufacturer) just decided to use some extra earlier '66 dated buckles that they had lying around.. so they are obviously Very Late 1966 Transitional belts meant for a 1967 car.  That's what you have.  Now as to what car they came from.  Since the belts are longer, They could have been from a mid-size car, or a Full size car.

Thanks guys.  Much appreciated.  You all have some really good information.  I'm getting a good idea regarding the possible history of these seat belts, to bad they can't speak!
