Down draft tube grommet - valve cover
« on: March 07, 2015, 04:57:22 PM »
13-14 years ago when I was initially cleaning up the engine compartment, I removed the valve covers for a strip and repaint. I carefully tried to remove the down draft tube grommet from the passenger side valve cover and the dang think snapped in half.

It seemed to me that it was plastic. I'm curious if it was dried, hardened rubber or if it was plastic. Has anyone seen a replacement for this? I assume I could use a rubber pvc grommet but I would like something correct, or as close to it as possible.

I would like to know a little more about it before I go hunting for an original valve cover just to rob the grommet out of.

Dearborn car, early 65 built 2-9-65. C code.

NPD lists a grommet for road draft tube - 6A892-1 $2.10, don't know what it looks like or if it's accurate.

I thought it was the same one used for PCV valves.

It is, and it fits perfectly

Alright, PVC grommet it is. I nearly ordered one of them to try out previously. Is it rubber or plastic? Thanks everybody!
