SVO "eye candy" for those that REMEMBER MacTools SVO promotion
« on: November 14, 2013, 10:51:36 AM »
Finding rare cars, restoring cars is what this site is all about!    MANY members here helped "convince" me to buy this car (and reunite with the MacTools SCCA race car)

Brought to MI in 2011 the car needed valve seals, brake work and to be repainted.

After documenting the spray patterns , as well as the original stickers (slightly different than those Andy reproduced for the 1984 car) I started disassembly in the winter of 2012.

Now with the help of Tim Cornell  -TPC Refinishing in Milford MI we have made great strides in bringing the car back to it "contest give away state"  (see poster from 1984)

With the use of many NOS parts
and lots of

We got the car in paint over two weekends.

We went by the original poster rather than use the Race Car for stripe spacing.   (I think I found a "model" that isn't 58 years old now)  So when I get the car assembled this winter - expect a "recreation" photo!

Mark,

I have been following your "project" over on SVOCOP, really looking sharp! Are you doing the underside as well?

I have the same plastic sign and poster... do not see too many of the signs around (although one on eBay recently).

Looking forward to seeing updates on your progress.  ;)

Can you describe what this picture is?  I can't blow it up large enough to see the details.  It almost looks like a picture from inside Fort Knox.

Lots's of cash, but Fort Knox (i.e. gold) no. Any quality restoration requires lots of it!  ;D

Thanks Kendal (Glad you got the stickers for your race car - no sense both of us making graphic designers rich)

Talking all we learned on the MacTools car to the 67 Fairlane Wheel City drag car this year.   New for me (not big blocks) but tubbed race cars.    Have redone the wiring and moving on to fuel next.   (Not going for any records - just "smoke and noise"  SMOKE AND NOISE !
