advise on 1969 fenders.
« on: April 18, 2010, 12:49:00 PM »
I pulled the original fenders off my 69 project yesterday and discovered previous rust repair work. I dont know if saving them is feasable as yet but I was considering going with dynacorns. Has anyone used these yet and could comment on any fitment issues? Also would it be possible to recreate the date code lost on the originals? Any imput welcome.

I have never used the DYNACORN fenders however I did use there one piece floor and was not overly impressed with that. I would locate some original fenders if yours are too far gone as I see some rust free ones on eBay now and then or try a MUSTANG vendor in the southwest as they have the best chance of having a rust free fender. As far as the date code this could be removed from the original fender by cutting out a small square around the date and then using that piece as a template to cut out the replacement fender date code and butt weld it in and grind flush. My opinion on reproduction parts is they are a dead last resort and until the parts are made in the U.S.A and are correct I will avoid them as much as possible.
