1969 roofrail weather strips
« on: February 14, 2015, 11:29:13 AM »
Good morning all,
I have had a pair of NOS roofrail weatherstrips for about 36 years. I recently opened the boxes and instead of being rolled up they look like they were folded. There are a few creases across the w/s. My question is, has anyone had this issue and how did you deal with it? Thanks to everyone for all the tips and advice freely shared. TOB

That's disappointing news. I bought some in paper wrapping with creases I wasn't happy with so I unloaded them. I always figured the boxed weatherstrips were the ones to get because I thought they'd be rolled. Unless you have chunks missing out of your originals, I'd leave them on the car because the creased ones won't look good.

I didn't expect any issues or I would have opened and checked them years ago. The originals are long gone. I am getting ready to install them in a couple of weeks and that is why I opened them now. I am thinking maybe order new ones and change them later if the creases work out of the NOS. I tried putting them in the sun yesterday (not very warm these days) and put them in front of the heater but the creases are still there. It may take years to come out???
Thanks TOB
