GT gas cap
« on: May 31, 2013, 09:54:27 PM »
I need to replace the gas cap on my SJ Oct build 66 GT and wondered if the repro's are acceptable or should I be looking for an NOS or good OEM one?
Thanks,
Greg Z

Tough to find super nice OEM ones. The NOS one I found was crazy money. Repro I got lookd pretty nice.

NOS 66 gt gas caps are all but non-existant these days.

And if you can find one then be willing to shell out plenty of coin........  and then some more

Scott Drake reproductions will suit most restorations.

Thanks guys.    My car is in Occasionally Driven class at shows but as far as repros go, I was just concerned that shape, size and finish wouldn't be close.

Here are pics of my 66 GT's original cap.
Some pics from my Metuchen car after cleaning inside including same mark  FoMoCo and part # cast into the cap. "FORD" letters on mine are black, not red.

Yes, paper gasket removed and replaced with neoprene. It was letting too much gas shoot out the back
