Topic: Paint code for 64.5

I have been looking at allot of different documentation on paint colors for my 64.5 D code. The one color I like the most is shown as Twilight Turquoise  paint code 5. The problem is this color option does not show as available on any decode listing, not on new MCA judging sheet and not every paint option listing that's out there. Ford started using the color in 1963. Does anyone know if it was available on the 64.5 Mustang?

The only Turquoise that I can find listed is a Tropical Turquoise (Color Code O) which is fairly rare.  I looked through several sources and cannot find the color you are wanting for your 64.5.  There was a Tropical Turquoise 64.5 convertible at the national show in Lincoln, NE this past summer.  The daughter of the elderly owner said that she was receiving a lot of comments regarding the rarity of this color.

i found it in my decoder book. the one published by MCA in 1992.

Not sure why your concerned if a 64-65 color was available during a certain month when your doing a color change (Signature shows a Y as the original color) on your car. Can understand at least using a color that could have been applied if your not restoring the car. Parents had a Twilight  Turquoise 65 convertible years ago (same 5 code) Tropical Turquoise is shown as a code 0 on the Ditlzer chart as Fords code for the color



 Both the "5" and "Y" are shown on color charts (shown in the Library here) but to be sure that your new color was available when your car was built I believe you would need an order form or a salesman's guide date for that period. 

Remember that allot of the decoding list reproduce mistakes and omissions from earlier list. Authors often just used other newer workers as a model rather than going back to the original documents to start. On top of these there are a few versions from Ford when there were oversights that got repeated over and over again since the 80's - adding to the confusion

Yes I am thinking about a color change. The wife is not crazy about Skylight Blue. I want to use a color that was available for 64.5. As you stated some on line documentation has  paint code 5 as available for 64 Mustang and some do not. I know it was a 65 color and am thinking that it came one line later in the 64 build. I only think this because of all the conflicting information.
