69 dash instrument bezel deluxe gray/silver colorcode ?
« on: October 26, 2014, 11:30:28 AM »
Hello i bought a DASH INSTRUMENT BEZEL DELUXE 69 MUSTANG from mustansunlimited (IBD69). It is made by dynacorn. They did not spray the inner rings gray/silver.
What colorcode gray/silver should they be ?

Anyone else think light argent will serve the purpose here?

Sure others that have done this recently will add their experiences and recommendations.

Remember masking off these areas can be the tricky part since it can peel off the "plating/coating"

I think you'd be right with a light argent, like Jeff suggested.  I had my bezels rechromed and repainted by Ray Azcue back when he was still doing them, and that's exactly what it looks like.  I also second that you need to be careful masking off, as I could see the chrome plating pulling off very easily.
Too much junk, too little time.

Thanks for the info. I had my original bezels rechromed and painted. The painter pulled of some chrome paint.  :'(Therefore i ordered these bezels from mustangsunlimited.

Is the chromeplating on these new bezels also that fragile ?

Is there also a colorcode for the ligth argent they used? I would like to be as close as possible to the original.

Believe so (same coating process I believe) and would not want to assume otherwise and find out that it is just as fragile. I vote with being on the safe side ;)

Light argent should be available from most Mustang part vendors in rattle can form.

IF you want mix and spray then one of these two may help

i just refinished my cluster last week- why couldn't they do the new cluster correct in the first place!  looks nice with the chrome finish but certainly not concours.  i used TAMIYA model spray paint.  part # AS-12  "bare metal silver"  lots of green tape.   and some 3M spray adhesive remover and a Q-tip.   remover didn't melt or rempve the blk paint  -  just take your time!
