69 351 Automatic driveshaft markings
« on: July 12, 2014, 07:55:01 AM »
Tried the search, and come up empty. Was wanting to know if anyone would know the driveshaft markings/stripes for my Metuchen NJ built, Feb.24,1969,  69 Mach1, 351W 2 bbl, single exhaust, FMX transmission, no P/S, no A/C.

Thanks for any help.

Easy one since its the same as we used on the 69 GT350 I did

CHLAWT - Chartreuse, Lavender and White

Original marks (one can see why pictures are not always good ways to document specific colors)
Comment - top example the chartreuse is more green and the lavender is more purple. White is just dirty
Bottom sample the chartreuse would be more yellow (chartreuse is sort of in the middle of both of these - you can look up samples of the color many places on the web)

How I reproduced what we found on this driveline. Orange was applied to the one york before it as welded in place.  On my monitor the colors are better/closer than the pictures above. Lavender could be a bit darker - less pink I guess

Hope this helps

What's the red mark that's down past the white mark?
Too much junk, too little time.

What's it for ??  Have no idea - though its not unusual to find addition markings on drivelines we don't understand all of their purposes and meanings at this time. The red band happened to be on the driveline when  it was cleaned so we returned it to the same spot like we attempted to so with the drips and runs from the ID marks

Can I add to this thread by asking the same question of drive shaft markings for a 1969 Mach 1 351w FMX Built in San Jose, February 26 1969 ?

Here is what I have found on mine, stripes appear to be white, lavendar & black, is that correct ?

Would not match what is on build sheets from that time period that I'm looking at nor other cars I've got pictures of equipped the way your car is

Thanks Jeff, after your comment I measured the dimensions of my driveshaft, does not match what should be there
