Crank Bolt and Washer ?
« on: October 01, 2014, 07:45:58 PM »
This bolt and washer came off of a 66 San Jose 6 cyl. 200 c.i. motor long ago.  A recent discussion regarding crank washers got me curious.  This washer is 1 3/4" across, 3/16" thick, is concave on the bolt head side and has a beveled edge.  To me that is an unusual washer.  Was this a stock application ?   Thanks,  Brian

Ford listed this washer part # C0DZ 6378-A as applying to all 170, 200 and 250s as 1.76" OD, .58" ID and .230" thick.
The bolt is listed as part # C1TE 6A340-B also applying to all six cyl. as a 9/16"-18 X 1 3/4" hex head.

The deflection you see in the washer was possibly caused by excessive resistance while using the bolt and washer to install the dampner pulley sometime in its past life.

Thank you WW for the research and post.  So it is the correct application for a 66 T code.  Washer seems to be extraordinarily thick, almost 1/4", and the guy that damaged the thing must have been a brute.  Brian

A pre-load crank washer ?    Brian

Unfortunately IMHO the original poster never says ( if Waynedid I missed it) the source of the washer. He mentioned that he  purchased it new..... but does nto say from where.... lots of questions before I assumed it was correct or like an  original. Got buckets of hardware and don't recall ever seeing  one from a early small block

Just me ;)
