seen in a vendor's online catalog stating that after 2/69 the round nut was used to retain remote driver's mirror knob in place- carried thru 70 production. prior cars had the rectangular style bezel- true or not?

Well later 69's had the short door pull cups but I don't know about the mirror aspect either
I haven't seen any repro door panels with short pull cups and rectangular bezel though

in mustangs unlimited catalog they say there were two styles of remote cables- cj pony says the same thing.  they both use the rectangular bezel though.  my confusion.

Looking at NPDs web page with the drivers side the descriptions include that one is for standard - the other for the deluxe interior applications
