I have a 1967 "A" code coupe. At one time(1987-1989) I came across a 1967 Cougar XR7 in a wrecking yard that had the Convenience Control group. I grabbed a number of the unique items (door latches(not the door wiring
), parking brake switch, the fuel sending unit, the console harness to the indicator lights).
So the fuel sending unit doesn't work, and they don't reproduce them (that I have seen..). Is there anyone who can fix or restore the sending unit? If so, how much does it cost?
I saw a Cougar supplier who at one time was selling the non-working units (not cheap) and I was wondering why someone would buy one for close to $200.00.
Is it so when you enter a show, do you get points or credit for having the "correct" sending unit installed when your car has the option, even if it doesn't work?
TIA for any information you can provide.
