Replace all ruber??
« on: August 24, 2014, 09:03:38 AM »
I may have posted this question previously but couldn't find and do not remember.
Forgive me if the terminology is incorrect as well.
I will have to replace most if not all of the rubber grommets and bushings in front steering and front spring mounts. Some of this stuff has already been replace with aftermarket parts.
Remember, this is a concourse trailored 65', and the question is..... Does anyone (like NPD or the such) make acceptable replacement pieces for this part of the restoration?

There are some rubber suspension bushings that are not available as an acceptable substitute. The ones that go between the Pitman arm/Idler arm and the center link is one that comes to mind, C4ZA-3A196-A. Virginia Classic has one that fits but is not exact. The tie rod end rubber bushings with the metal ring at the bottom are close, you need to remove the "C5ZZ-3332-A" part number that on the rubber to get closer to the factory one. The seal over the ball joints is another problem area and I don't have the original part number, just the replacement - C7OA-3A105-A.
What else?
Jim

Exactly! ;) ;) I know the ball joint boots are a C-7 which is not right. I have a line on the C-4 boots but as usual am concerned with the rest. The bushings are my question. I can search these out as we go along and suffer the deduction until I find good replacements. I need these, if anyone knows (Jim). The rubber is a problem along with any other steering parts (I mean all metal and rubber) if anyone can help.
I want my deductions to be here and minimal as I progress. Hate to have the wife to be my worst critic!
HELP!
