WTB: 64.5 260/289 OIL dip stick
« on: August 09, 2014, 03:50:42 PM »
Looking for a good used original 64.5 mustang 260/289 oil dip stick.  Do not want the service style with the rubber tip, looking for the crimped handle.

Thanks

I may have an extra, will check. They are a unique length compared to 65 version, at least for those with oil fill off the timing chain cover. Mannel's book provided a good distinction of the types. I'll let you know what I have.

Charles,

Here's what I have, looks to be a 63 Ford generator oil stick, not the version you're looking for and shown on page 5-29 of Mannel's book. Sorry.

Chris:  That looks like the one I need.  I may have been wrong on the crimped end.  Yours would be better than the one there.  Send me a PM with cost + shipping.  Thanks

Charles,

Sent you a PM. For comparison purposes, I took pictures of the oil dip stick in my car now since I switched it out a while back for my original in the car when I bought it...the one I posted pictures of yesterday with FoMoCo logo. The one in my car now is for a generator and the same length as the first one, but the logo is different, the loop handle is shorter, and the handle itself is reversed compared to the in my car originally (see photos). I'm not actually sure which is more correct. I swapped them out at some point and don't recall why. The shinier one on top (or right) is the one in my car now.
