Fender Removal--'67 Different than '65-66?
« on: July 24, 2014, 11:23:47 AM »
I'm trying to track down a water leak, and have been praying that it's not my windshield.  Someone suggested that I check the rubber plugs behind the kick panels, where the fender stud passes through.  I know a '65-66 used this stud and the corresponding plug, but when I pulled the kick panels out of my '67, I didn't see them.  Did a '67 not use that fender stud behind the kick panels?  I feel like maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Here is the fender to cowl stud I'm talking about:

Too much junk, too little time.

There is no stud that goes through behind the kick panel on a 67-8.

Better the windshield than the cowl. Most often the windshield is the problem cover the cowl and spray the water then check for leaks.

Marty, that's what I'm afraid of too.  I am beyond frustrated with the windshield design on these cars.  Every '65-68 Mustang I've had leaks, except for the one my dad bought nearly new and has never had the windshield out.  How in the world did Ford keep these things from leaking when they were new?!   There's nothing worse than welding in new floors and installing new sound deadener and carpet, just to watch it all get soaked the first time it rains.  Sorry, just had to vent!!   :D   :D
