I don't think my  car had the marking you are looking for unless your talking about the one that you see at the bottom of this picture.

Thanks guys, any little bit helps.  Jeff, I am glad you found '67 examples.  That could go a long way in determining if the letter was for the day of the week... since we could match it up to an exact build date with a Marti report.
