Shaker trim nuts

Who offers  the nuts that hold  a shaker trim ring ? amk? I have the old ones and cleaned  them up in some evapo rust . They should have  a rubber washer on them?  same with the  two support brackets?  Mark

Not sure who carries the nuts - I would check my local hardware store for something that could be refinished if I didn't have originals

The support brackets (guessing your asking about the two straight pieces that help hold the hole trim to the hood) is available from a number of the normaly big suppliers

Where do i find a kit to anodize  bolts   and nuts?  When i cleaned my  strut rod parts up i noticed the  front   Nut  had red anodizing on it.   What other bolts or attaching hardware had this done to it? Ive saw hood hinges with this tratment .Also my fmx  transmission had a number 19 or 29 wrote on the top of it . I dont have my build sheet  that must be the number they used to designate a  fmx . I didnt take a pic of it as its nothing too rare.Just some  things i noticed.Mark

That is a red dye not anodizing - Since this is a thin tint at best it reflects the underlaying finish below. Example red dye over a zinc plated part will look very different from red dye over a heat treated nut.

Applications by 69-70 were many safety related bolts and nuts that needed to be torqued and checked by different pieces. The number of these items expanded allot in 68 in response to a safety push at Ford. Not sure if it was in response to a law suit or concern of one.

Easiest ones (don't want to get too far off thread but if so we'll split this one) for your year would be the bolts that hold the steering box to the frame, idler arm to the frame, 3rd member nuts, if you have a fold down the four small latch retaining machine bolts to the wheel well, steering rag joint to steering box and others

Most guys just purchase a small bottle of machinist dye and apply it themselves when refinishing things

The number no the trans could be a number of things - least likely IMHO is the type of transmission. Depending on plant and when the car was built - IMHO more likely rotation number, assemblers mark or ID, inspectors ID or similar. Transmissions like rear ends can be tricky since they were often marked at 3 or 4 different times by multiple people and in many different (possibly) different regions of the country

My April '69 Dearborn FMX had an orange 19 if looking from the front or 61 if looking from the rear on the cast iron housing. It is on the rear next to the tail shaft housing. Also it had a 3 on drivers side of cast iron housing. I don't know what either represented.

THANKS FOR THE IMFO ON THE NUTS! I did order some.I don't have a build sheet for my car unless it would be stashed  somewhere other than i have looked. (I was thinking the 19  was for  a designation for a  fmx ?)I know various plants  put them in diff places. metuchen plant cars build sheets were commonly placed where? When i was taking apart a nother 1970 mach I took the hood latch off and under it was  what looked like part of a build sheet. Weird i must say I have no clue where that car  was built.Mark

The shaker trim ring pal nuts are Ford p/n 382110-S
ID is 9/64" OD is 11/16" and hex size is 11/32"
They are the same ones used on hood scoop badges but nos badges
come with smaller footprint pal nuts than assembly line
Not an issue for badges where they can't be seen but they would be
noticed on the trim ring
