Binding carpet at interior quarter panels
« on: June 23, 2014, 03:07:22 PM »
In a not too distant post we had some good discussion about cutting carpet and the fact that the carpet edges should be bound where they meet the interior quarter panels. Several people stated that any upholstery shop can bind these edges of the carpet. I placed, steamed and cut my mass-backed carpet and then went to my local auto upholstery shop today. They cannot do this and sent me to a 2nd shop, who also cannot help and sent me to a 3rd shop which also cannot bind these edges. I was told that they cannot bind inside corners, which is what we're dealing with. They said I'll have to do it myself, by hand. What!?

Help? Has anyone tried to do this by hand?

Never tried to sewn and tie (making the odd factory loop in the thread)

Have had old fashion shops sew the edges - but its been many years

Sorry - no solutions from me :(  this time
