Sway bushing weirdness

11/16 sway bar on 68 coupe 289.

Got these new 11/16 bushings and look at them, they poke out the top of the bracket more than 3/8"

Here's a picture with the new one and the one that was in there.

What's wrong with this? That looks like too much to compress with the bracket.

I'd be hesitant to use them also, but you might as well try bolting them to the car and see what happens.

I would send them back to CHINA were they most likely came from and try to find a set of N.O.S or an original supplier such as MOOG at a auto parts store. I have found several old stock MOOG parts left at the old mom & pop auto parts stores ( the very few that are left) or E-BAY. I bought a set of repop strut rod bushings from N.P.D and they were not even close to correct and half the weight. I was able to buy a old MOOG set that at the time was still all U.S.A made and they were almost exactly like the original and some things I felt were even better. I remember before all the so called discount chains came to town, you could by a quality OE supplier part at the local auto parts store and you would get OEM quality because they were the ones making the parts for FORD, such as BENDIX, KELSEY HAYES, MOOG, WAGNER etc..Now most of these company's are either out of business or have plants in MEXICO or CHINA to compete with the inferior lower price parts. Sorry, I am rambling but that's is a big problem in this hobby is dealing with import junk.

Just to follow up,

I now have 2 versions of the Moog and the Scott Drake bushings and none fit.

Confirmed that the strap is indeed stock, so no problem there.

Apparently this is a problem that nobody has an answer to.
I guess people are just squishing them in there all distorted.

I put the SD version on a bandsaw and chopped off the top, kinda works.

I bought my Moog stuff from amazon of all places.  If there was some question about figment,   I verified it on the Moog site and then made sure I got that part.   8)
