70 hood peak molding attachment clips
« on: March 25, 2017, 12:10:51 AM »
I've seen much discussion on trying to find the clips that slide into the hood peak molding for a 70 Mustang. Has anyone had any success on locating a suitable reproduction? If not how are people attaching the molding. I see AMK has a kit F-142 that has the nuts but not the clips.

I've just been recycling clips from used sources of other trim applications.

D0ZZ-16A746-A is the clip part number.
I think they're different from 69 clips due to the moulding backing strip pop riveted to a 70 hood.

Thats correct - thansk for reminding us. That reinforcement makes the mounting arrangement different from other years

So should i attach the moulding to the support, then pop rivet to the hood? Where do the gaskets/butyl washers install?  i usually do everything twice, i was trying to do this job once. I have original parts, using amk fastener kit, paid a ton and dont want to destroy these very expensive items. Thanks for any help
