Seat track finish
« on: May 03, 2014, 02:54:11 PM »
Seat track finish for 1966 Mustang scheduled for December 65 build. What is the finish of the seat track and adjusting mechanism? Black paint, zinc plate, natural, or other finish? Thanks

The track sections are all semi-gloss black, however each piece was formed, painted then assembled so the rivets should be natural, the mounting studs natural (I phosphate then re-stake them), no paint on the rollers or nylon slides, springs heat treated "look", knob unfinished. After assembly, the ends were "bent" to retain the rollers.

FYI... black and phosphate seat tracks were used.  Seen phosphate mostly on Metuchen cars.

The car was scheduled to be built in December of 1965. It has the standard interior in black.

But what factory was it built at?  :)

Dearborn - NJ - San Jose ?

Often different plants meant different suppliers or sub contractors
