« on: April 30, 2014, 09:58:28 PM »
I would like tailshaft and suspension markings for a July 64 260 Hardtop Dearborn car. Any information or leads very much appreciated.

Thankyou  :)

Tail shaft markings??? Guess it would help knowing what transmission your car has ;)

Also for things like suspension to help one would have to know

PS?
AC?
Standard or HD suspension?
Body style?
Transmission (as mentioned)?

Since each of these would have an effect on the markings.

While we're at it can we see a picture of where you are as far as suspension finishes and details?

No reason focusing on adding marks if you'll be loosing points on the parts themselves

I am curious what markings a 3 speed standard tranny would have?? When I degreased my original I noticed a light blue circle, the size of a nickel, under the fill plug area. Was this to "check off" that the tranny was full of gear oil?? I also have a pic of this from a 1966 6 cylinder 3spd tranny.?? I'll try and post pics later. What other markings could be present?? I have seen other cars with a yellow swipe vertically on the rear facing side of the tranny mount??

Might want to start a new thread - maybe I'll cut it here - so we don't get this thread off track ;)

Lots of marks - not allot of explanation for each. Maybe that's good since if we did then others would try and reconstruct their marks solely on those understanding.

I have seen other cars with a yellow swipe vertically on the rear facing side of the tranny mount??

Transmission mounts were paint daubed like many others so workers could identify the specific mount ( in this example) quickly for their specific need in a second

Thanks everyone

My car is a 260 C4 Hardtop, drum brakes, manual sterring, standard suspension and No air conditioning.

I just completed this April a rotiserie restoration, I went to the Australian Mustang Nationals and won Gold in the  Concours, I detailed everything except markings as I couldnt get definate answers

Im in Australia and information is hard to get also 64's in original condition very scarce here! :)
