Headliner color for 2B Light Blue 69 Sportsroof
« on: April 30, 2014, 11:57:07 AM »

I'm trying to find the correct color of blue for my headliner.  My car was built in San Jose 2/17/69 with 2B interior code (Light Blue Kiwi Vinyl Standard Bucket Seats).  I'm curious about not just the headliner but the surrounding pieces as well - like the visors, pillar covers, windlace, etc... would they all have matched the headliner's color or would they have matched the upholstery colors?

Thank you,
David

The headliner and visors are normally a pretty close match since they are made out of the same material. But the other items are produced differently (molded, painted ...) and didn't often match the exact color.

Though these are not an exact match to your interior code many of these interior pieces would have been the same. They should illustrate the varity and variations seen - consideration could be given to age and exposure of course ;)

Sorry not allot of people take pictures of the headliners and visors :(  Had to look at all plants to get you enough samples

Of course some of the carpets in the pictures have been changed

Looks like picture #5 is the best for what you were asking for

Maybe someone else has other pictures to share

Thanks Jeff, that really helps.  How come I see some of the restored 69 blue interior headliners with a really pale light blue, some with the medium blue in your pics and some with the dark blue?  Was this just due to Ford sourcing from different manufacturers?  Is it possible Ford had this much variance in the cars they produced?

One of the problems is the use of cameras - especially digital. The same camera - on two different days in different lighting will produce very different looking tints and tones to any color so comparing the colors this way IMHO is not the best for these sorts of things

That's why its important to save samples of every material (hopefully from a hidden area) for comparison later

Don't believe that there was that wide of a variation between the (in this example) headliners on the original cars
