1966 rear bumper bracket finish
« on: March 31, 2018, 06:59:05 PM »
Gents
would my rear bumper brackets have been painted or left untreated?

Also, the light bracket, how would that have been finished? I did a search and couldn't find any restored versions. All the reproduction versions seem to be black but my brackets showed no indication of having paint.

The bumper bracket was painted black and the nut insert was silver given it was installed later in the mfg process. The license plate light body is zinc dichromate.

+1 Just went through all of this myself. Semi Gloss black on the brackets then the plate light is Zinc Dichromate along with zinc Dichromate Screws.

Other than masking/painting the rectangular inserts, I usually have brackets zinc plated.  Then the rectangles are taped off and the brackets painted semi-gloss black.
