86 GT pictures
« on: September 21, 2013, 12:18:30 AM »
I was going through some old files, and I came across these pictures of my 1986 GT.  These pictures were taken on the day I bought it, literally hours after it came off the truck from the factory (it was a special order).  If you need some concours reference pictures, this is as close as it gets!

Great pictures, THANK YOU!

Would you happen to know the last 6 of the VIN?
Trying to determine how late/early in production this car is...

Going back to a discussion on another board, I'd suspect this is a later 86 (Vin 250000+) because of the oil cap. I think the earlier cars had the big yellow decal.

Very nice. I was looking at an '86 GT (in '89), guy wouldn't budge on his price. I looked at an '87 GT T-top, loaded for about the same price, bought it the next day. We drove it from 1989-2004, had 187,000 miles when I sold it, and ran as good as the day I bought it. The 5.0 engines was simply amazing. Only thing, besides general maintenance, I ever had to do was a Motorsport clutch. We loved that Mustang. Wished I didn't have to sell it, but had no choice at the time.
