68 TSB Related to the Bucket Seats - The First Attempt
« on: September 19, 2023, 01:08:46 AM »
While scanning a few 68 TSB's (Technical Service Bulletin)  for other threads I scanned so extra ones to share with the site. In this TSB it appears that Ford is noticing and acknowledging that there is an issue with the front bucket design of the Mustang. According to the TSB there was a similar issue with the Thunderbird front seats also but the fix is different so the TSB has been edited to focus on the Mustang/Shelby seat issue.  The TSB identifies the problem is/was with cars built prior to Oct 1967 or that is what they believed when this TSB was published.

Text also mentioned that a second back stop bumper was added to the bucket seats.

Of course there were later efforts as well as a recall/campaign by Ford in the 70's that has been discussed in other threads focus on that attempt to address the issues and the damage they possibly caused. Not suggesting that you attempt these repair suggestions as it appears they were insufficient in some cases it appears. The choice is yours. Just sharing a point in time related to 1968 production and Ford's attempt to rectify them.
