Original or not? - Oct 64 San Jose Fastback
« on: February 16, 2014, 11:06:00 PM »
Getting ready to weld up some holes and looking for confirmation what's original and what's not.

Pics are of the left side shock tower and forward inner fender.  Here's what I think:

#1 - not original
#2 - not original
#3 - indentation, not a hole.  Looks like I can see it on other pics.  Think it's original.
#4 - not original
#5 - Think it's original.  Think I see it in other pics, but not caved in like mine.  Mine has had a screw run through it.
#6 - not original

Can anyone confirm?  Thanks, Rich.

#1 - Possibly original - a divet from welding on the back side
#2 - not original
#3 - original.
#4 - not original

#5 & Washer pump holes  - Original if the car was equipped with a windshield washer. If not just divet/impressions in the sheet metal . #5 is for the platic strap hose retainer

Fuel line & Plug depends on what engine the car was equipped with

#6 - Don't see that defect on other examples

Washer bag hole only if equipped with windshield washer. If not just two impressions

Thanks Jeff for the excellent info and pics!  That clears it up.

My car came equipped with the windshield washer, so had those related holes drilled out.  Also had the plug and fuel line where indicated.  This is the Hipo 289 car.

Will be posting a couple more.  I'm down to my last few.  :)
