PS Ram ID
« on: January 11, 2014, 10:02:10 PM »
Got a spare PS ram recently and just noticed it is about 1" shorter than the OEM (I think, 8Axxxx date and Bendix stamped) off my 68 S code.  It has a ton of paint and did not wire wheel it yet to see if it has marking, other than a large "1" and "L" stamped in the flange but the inlets.

Was a second hand unit the seller got form a Mustang shop going out of business, o not sure specifically what it came off.

Were 65-66 shorter than 67-68?   Anyone seen the "1" and "L" before?  Loaned them out to a friend having issues with his PS as test units, so no pics.

Hmmm.... so I guess as long as a car has one, its deemed "correct"...  ;)

Found a good chart on Stangerssite which outlines some info on them.

http://www.stangerssite.com/PC_IDchart.html

Only reference data I was able to find.  If anyone knows of more, would be interested as a cross reference.

Dont really know the answer other than 65/66 is different than 67/70
Does this help (C30Z 65/66)?

fairlane & torino has a shorter tube & trimmed off metal by hose end  EXCEPT for b9 had the long regular mustang tube BUT used the trimmed off metal for clearance issue with B9 bellhousing lower bolt rubbing tube end problem after b9 engine was moved forward at KK plant. It will also have orange code

Tim,

What is the length of the unit from end to end (cylinder and related fittings only, not shaft).

Does it have any number/letters stamped in the face of the end by the two hose connections?
