67 under dash flat metal "bendable" support brackets
« on: November 09, 2021, 10:55:47 PM »
There are various bendable flat metal brackets under the dash to hold up wire looms and to prevent items from interfering or binding on moveable items. The Speedometer cable is run very near the clutch pedal and a bracket prevents the cable from getting fouled.

Mike (Bullitt68) had asked me to measure a few of my brackets and here is the first one.
I don't know where Mike was going to place this one so perhaps he can tell us. I'm too far away from this stage to know.

Thanks for posting. Maybe we need to include in the thread all the places these are used on a 67 like the reference you provided for manual transmission speedo cables under the dash

Jeff -- My 67 has 2 different sizes of the simple loop bracket. Mike's 68 has 3.
And then we both have the very special speedo loop bracket.

Since this is a 67 thread I'll deal with what I found on my car.

A/C equipped cars have 2 support brackets at top of glove box to hold PS A/C duct.

And there is also one on the LH to support the AC duct. It is shaped differently than the RH ones.

Do any of these have Ford part numbers? There are a couple of members of this forum that may have the Ford document, or, with a Ford part number, be able to get a copy. Just a thought. Remember, a part number give all of us here a common point of reference.

So, so far we have?

- Speedo cable supports  for manual transmission cars (1 ea)

- Dash main wire loom supports (2 ea)
NOTE: In this picture (a Dearborn car) they are installed upside down from how San Jose installed them typically

- Air conditioning dash duct tube supports (2 ea)
Sorry no clear pictures of these yet

This one also?  7R2074xx
Steering column is in the upper left corner for orientation I believe

I don't see anything in the assembly manuals for the ones that support wiring on the driver's side.  I also looked through multiple MPCs; combined with assembly manuals, hundreds of pages.  Nothing - this is surprising.

I did find the information on the AC duct clamps (C7ZA/C7ZZ-19C623-A and C7ZA/C7ZZ-19C830-A R/B C8ZA-19C915-A) that Marty mentioned, and that is attached.

I just pulled this clutch pedal assy out of a 69 Galaxie and note the bracket shown in the picture has the same type support.  I looked through Galaxie illustrations and came up empty.
