First time out of the garage in years
« on: April 08, 2014, 10:17:09 AM »
Well, The 72 rolled from the garage for the first time this past Friday to go down and get the final alignment set.  The 4F Medium Lime Metallic did not look this good on the car 29 years ago when I bought it.  I have some final nits and bits to finish up before the hauler comes next Monday to pick it up for Charlotte.  If you are going to Charlotte and see the car please let me know.  I will have the 67 GT in with the display of Rare Cars.  I feel very fortunate to be in the caliber of cars that have been organized for display.  All of my time, focus and finances have been on the 72 for the past 5 years.  When the money tree grows some more branches I will turn my attention to the 67 for a highly detailed restoration.

You know how hard it is to refinish those darn Sport Wheel covers!!!!  I think I have gone through a whole roll of masking tape between the simulated lug nuts, argent raised section, black outer rim, and chrome openings.  Not to mention rubbing the skin from my fingers to make sure I have a good bond between the transition from argent to black.

Looking forward to meeting folks in Charlotte.

Thank you everyone.  This has definitly been a labor of love as this is my first car that I purchased shortly after turning 15.  Many pounds and gray hairs later I finally have her back to the way I always wanted to get her.

The interior is a black deluxe interior.  Marti's by the numbers has it as 1 of 175 with the 4F Medium Lime Metallic.  I purchased original materials from SMS out of Oregon and had TMI sew up the covers for me to fitr their foam.  I will attach a few interior pics.  The engine is nothing sexy, just a plain jane H code 351 2V.  I wanted originality.  My 67 is my burning tires car.
